Job Overview We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and ensuring smooth office operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office software, and a strong understanding of healthcare administrative procedures. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient service while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive patient experience Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using Open Dental EMR Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification using systems (Dental change) Give patients estimates for fees, explain steps and options to patients Collect payments and process dental / medical billing and coding, including CPT and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while ensuring HIPAA compliance Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries and appointment requests Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including care plans and intake forms Maintain organized filing of dental and medical records and administrative documents Assist with front desk duties such as data entry, typing (including 10-key typing), and office management tasks Support medical administrative functions like clinic experience tasks, health information management, and office support duties Qualifications Prior experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred; clinic or dental clinic experience is advantageous Proficiency with dental software Open Dental is desirable Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, dental coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry Ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA regulations Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical support experience High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical office administration is preferred Join our team to provide outstanding administrative support in a professional dental environment.
