Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality dental care to our young patients. You will assist the dentist during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure a welcoming environment for children and their families. Your expertise in pediatric dentistry and dental assisting will help create positive experiences for our patients. Duties Assist the dentist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols. Take and X-rays as needed, utilizing medical imaging equipment effectively. Manage patient records and documentation in Dentrix ensuring HIPAA compliance. Conduct preliminary assessments, including taking vital signs and reviewing medical history. Educate patients and their families on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Support the dental receptionist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow. Maintain an organized inventory of dental supplies and equipment. Stay updated on pediatric dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques. Qualifications Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, particularly in pediatric dentistry. Proficiency in using Dentrix is a plus. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation practices. Experience with chairside assisting, including knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Ability to perform medical coding and maintain accurate medical records. Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children and their guardians. A passion for working with children in a healthcare environment is essential.
