Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, excellent chairside assisting skills, and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced clinical environment. This role involves providing advanced dental assistance, supporting clinical operations, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and infection control. The assistant will collaborate closely with dentists and other team members to deliver exceptional dental services across general and cosmetic dentistry. Responsibilities Placing and removing temporary restorations Using digital scanners, including ITERO and TRIOS Taking impressions Assist the dentist during clinical procedures Place appropriate restorative fixtures, including rubber dams and composite rings. Prepare and break down operatories Take digital X-rays Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards Educate patients on post-operative care Accurately chart clinical notes and update patient records Stock operatories and track supplies and inventory Exhibit exemplary organizational skills Schedule appointments for both the doctor and the hygienists Ensure a positive, professional patient experience Requirements CDA and/or DAQGD credential required. Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting; familiarity with general and cosmetic dentistry. Proficiency in Dentrix(preferred). Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy. Experience with digital X-rays, PANX and CBCT imaging, 3D scanners, vital signs monitoring, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection control. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages.
