Dental Assistant / Registered Dental Assistant This position assists dentist at chair-side during examination and treatment of hospital patients. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients in regards to their growth and development process PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide a refreshing and friendly atmosphere to patients of all ages Provide chair-side assistance to dentist for a variety of treatment procedures Take and develop dental x-rays Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment Record treatment information in patient records Take impressions of patients’ teeth Communicate with patients and suppliers Communicate with patients and suppliers Document patient dental treatments and prepare treatment plans Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling) Perform office management tasks including utilization of various computer software programs May also be called on to provide administrative and/or marketing support as needed (e.g., scheduling, answering phones, billing, attending various community events, etc.) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE DENTAL ASSISTANT INCLUDE: Registered Dental Assistant preferred Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs Working knowledge of Microsoft Word Positive attitude and ability to patiently communicate well with children and adults Strong working knowledge of dentistry and dental procedures Hard-working and fun-loving a must Willing to be cross-trained in all areas of the office!
