Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform comprehensive dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a clean and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, patient assessment, and infection control protocols to ensure the highest standards of oral health care. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with pediatric dentistry are highly valued. Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and polishing procedures to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records in EMR systems, including treatment notes, medical history, and procedural documentation review. Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed in accordance with HIPAA regulations and dental office policies. Manage patient flow efficiently to minimize wait times while providing compassionate care tailored to pediatric and general dentistry patients. Support administrative tasks such as reviewing medical coding for billing purposes and updating medical records as needed. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry experience. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively within a team environment practicing four-handed dentistry. Excellent patient care skills with a focus on pediatrics and general dentistry patients. Familiarity with medical imaging procedures, vital signs monitoring, and medical records management. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and medical coding standards related to dental procedures. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to educate patients about their oral health needs effectively.
