Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Edison, NJ

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental office. The ideal candidate will support dentists during procedures, manage patient care, and ensure the smooth operation of the dental practice. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and proficiency with various dental software systems. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within a fast-paced clinical environment. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as, Dentrix, Open Dental. Manage patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health practices Maintain sterilization protocols and ensure all equipment is properly sanitized according to infection control guidelines Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist if needed Skills Proficiency with dental software systems Dentrix and Open Dental Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry Experience with X-ray procedures and 3D scanner technology Familiarity with infection control practices and aseptic techniques in a clinical setting Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Prior experience in dental assisting or working within a dental clinic is preferred; certification or training in dental assisting is highly valued Join our team to provide exceptional dental care while advancing your skills in a supportive professional environment.
