Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a sterile environment. This role requires familiarity with dental procedures, medical documentation, and dental software systems. The Dental Assistant will play a vital part in delivering high-quality dental care across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics specialties. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during various procedures including restorations, extractions, and root canals using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Manage medical imaging documentation and ensure proper medical coding for billing purposes. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Maintain accurate dental records and assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist if needed. Ensure compliance with all infection control protocols and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment. Support pediatric patients by applying specialized techniques suitable for children in pediatric dentistry settings. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic role with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Proficiency with EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or similar platforms. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical documentation standards. Ability to operate X-ray equipment and perform medical imaging procedures safely and effectively. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and sterilization procedures. Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided if necessary. Certification in radiography or X-ray certification is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics are advantageous. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and team members. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
