Duties Prepare treatment rooms for patient procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are sterilized and ready for use in accordance with infection control protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, demonstrating excellent knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology. Support administrative tasks by acting as a dental receptionist—answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing medical documentation. Maintain a clean and sterile environment by following aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure patient safety at all times. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting duties such as chairside assisting and medical documentation is essential. Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is advantageous for managing patient records efficiently. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and HIPAA compliance is required to uphold the highest standards of care. Experience with pediatric dentistry or working with children is a plus; comfort working with diverse patient populations is important. Certification in X-ray techniques or radiography is preferred; additional training in endodontics or prosthodontics will be considered an asset. Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical coding practices ensures accurate billing and recordkeeping.
