Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental concerns to tailor personalized care plans. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term health habits. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information and prevent cross-contamination. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures. Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is highly desirable. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on infection control and aseptic technique. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and perform basic medical assessments for comprehensive patient care. Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and interpretation relevant to dental diagnostics. Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures clearly to patients of all ages and backgrounds. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for handling sensitive medical records and documentation review processes.
