Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and dietary advice for optimal dental health. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all interactions and recordkeeping. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry with a strong background in dental terminology, infection control, and medical coding. Proficiency in dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR systems is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to effectively care for pediatric patients within a pediatric dentistry setting. Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks confidently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Strong understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, medical records review, and documentation review processes. Commitment to infection prevention practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
