Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and assisting during pediatric dentistry treatments. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care to foster lifelong healthy habits. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure patient safety. Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as reviewing documentation, managing medical coding for billing purposes, and updating medical records. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric-specific procedures preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control standards. Experience using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping. Strong understanding of medical terminology, vital signs assessment, and medical records management. Ability to perform four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient patient care delivery. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to pediatric patients when necessary. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and medical coding practices related to dental services.
