Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Expanded Function Registered Dental Assistant (EFRDA) to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced chairside assisting, managing dental procedures, and supporting the clinical operations of our practice. Responsibilities Provide advanced chairside assistance across a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and minimal pediatric dentistry. Operate and manage electronic health records (EMR systems) on Dentrix to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans with a focus on precision and patient safety. Assist with medical imaging procedures, vital signs measurement, and maintaining aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards. Support the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize efficiency during procedures. Manage medical documentation and coding for insurance claims, billing, and recordkeeping with attention to detail. Educate patients on dental terminology, treatment options, and post-procedure care while addressing their questions professionally. Prepare treatment areas with appropriate instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized according to infection control protocols. Assist with the operation of dental technology such as intraoral cameras, digital scanners including 3D imaging devices, and other diagnostic tools. Maintain a thorough understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded duties in general dentistry or specialty practices such as prosthodontics or endodontics. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, or similar platforms for medical documentation and records management. Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and pediatric dentistry is highly preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is essential. Demonstrated ability to perform aseptic techniques and infection control procedures consistently at a high standard. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices relevant to dental assisting roles. Ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of patient care and documentation.
