Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a clean and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a thorough understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and adherence to all safety and privacy protocols. Experience with open dental practice management software, infection control, and pediatric dentistry is highly valued. The Dental Hygienist will work closely with our dental team to ensure optimal oral health outcomes for patients of all ages. Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth and removing plaque and tartar buildup using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments. Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates. Assist with medical imaging procedures, including X-rays, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history and current oral health status. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Document treatment procedures accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) system, Open Dental. Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and sterilization of instruments. Support the dental team during chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with medical coding and billing processes related to dental procedures when necessary. Ensure the clinical environment adheres to all safety standards, including infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines. Place SDF and sealants as needed appropriately and safely for patients of may ages. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification. Proven experience in general dentistry; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficiency with dental practice management software, Open Dental. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical imaging procedures. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations, including pediatrics. Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently. Knowledge of aseptic techniques, medical records management, and infection prevention strategies. Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
