Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Newton Center, MA

Overview Sleep Apnea Dentists of New England is a specialty dental practice devoted exclusively to the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea using oral appliance therapy. We are actively seeking a part-time Dental Hygienist, Dental Assistant, RN, LPN or MA who is interested in a non-traditional clinical role focused on sleep medicine rather than preventive dentistry. This position is ideal for hygienists who enjoy patient education, medical collaboration, and hands-on clinical care âwithout routine hygiene checks, scaling, or accelerated schedules. Schedule Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 8:00 AM â 5:30 PM Possible Thursdays (same hours) No evenings or weekends Responsibilities Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories Assisting with digital impressions(Scans), appliance delivery, and adjustments Support clinicians during examinations and procedures related to dental sleep apnea treatments Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient interactions and progress notes Prepare and organize clinical supplies and equipment needed for patient appointments Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions and ensuring comfort throughout visits Maintain clinical standards of cleanliness and organization of the clinical environment in compliance with health standards Skills Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to sleep medicine and general healthcare desirable Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) procedures and handle emergency situations effectively Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism Why Hygienists Love This Role No hygiene column, no accelerated prophy schedules Qualifications Massachusetts Dental Hygienist license OR Massachusetts Dental Assistant license (or willingness to obtain; online, no radiology requirement) CPR certification (required or willingness to obtain) Previous dental or medical experience required Ideal backgrounds include: Dental Hygienist seeking a non-traditional role Dental Assistant LPN or RN Respiratory Therapist Sleep Technician Physical Therapy Assistant Professional, dependable, and patient-focused Applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance to Newton, MA Strong emphasis on patient education and long-term care Medically oriented practice with collaboration across disciplines Opportunity to expand skills in dental sleep medicine Calm, focused clinical environment This position provides an excellent platform for healthcare professionals passionate about sleep medicine and patient-centered care.
