Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, accurately documenting treatment details and medical histories. Collect vital signs and medical information from patients to assist in comprehensive assessments prior to procedures. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health practices while demonstrating excellent customer service as a dental receptionist when needed. Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, managing medical waste, and adhering to OSHA guidelines for a safe clinical environment. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside support. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical documentation and records efficiently. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding to ensure accurate communication and documentation. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and X-ray machines safely and effectively. Familiarity with infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to uphold clinic safety standards. Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry practices along with experience supporting pediatric patients. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members across specialties like prosthodontics and endodontics while providing compassionate patient care.
