Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history and vital signs to ensure safe treatment. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining proper infection control protocols. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term health. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing chairside assistance with aseptic technique and dental terminology knowledge. Skills Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures, pediatric dentistry, and pediatric-specific care. Knowledge of infection control standards, sterilization processes, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement and patient assessment. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review for accurate recordkeeping. Experience with medical imaging techniques relevant to dentistry and understanding of anatomy related to oral structures. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members in a fast-paced environment.
