Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols. Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate diagnostic images while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Dentrix or Eaglesoft efficiently, documenting treatment details, medical history, and dental terminology accurately. Support patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical documentation, and explaining procedures clearly using appropriate medical and dental terminology. Implement aseptic techniques and maintain a sterile environment during chairside assisting to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, handle patient inquiries, and manage medical coding for billing purposes. Ensure compliance with all infection control standards, including proper sterilization of instruments and maintaining cleanliness throughout the clinic. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools. Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus. Excellent communication skills to effectively assist patients of all ages, including pediatrics, and collaborate with the dental team seamlessly. Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and data privacy; ability to handle sensitive information responsibly. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques while maintaining high standards of infection prevention.
