Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Hygienist to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pediatric dentistry, with a passion for providing exceptional patient care to children and adolescents. As a Pediatric Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive dental hygiene services, assisting with patient education, and supporting the overall dental health of our young patients. Your expertise will help foster a positive and comfortable environment for children during their dental visits. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth for pediatric patients in accordance with best practices. Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review, to ensure safe and effective treatment. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Educate patients and their guardians on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary advice, and preventive care tailored to pediatric needs. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies. Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments, adhering to infection control protocols, including aseptic technique. Utilize dental imaging tools and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to document patient information accurately. Support infection control procedures by following established protocols for sterilization, cross-contamination prevention, and safety standards. Review medical records and documentation to ensure comprehensive understanding of each patient's health history prior to treatment. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless workflow, effective communication, and high-quality patient care in a pediatric setting. Skills Proficiency in dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Extensive knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and techniques. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on pediatric patients using aseptic techniques. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to pediatrics. Experience with vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and documentation review processes. Familiarity with infection control standards specific to dental clinics serving children. Ability to communicate effectively with young patients, parents, and team members in a respectful manner. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Competence in medical coding related to dental procedures for accurate recordkeeping.
