Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures. Assist dentists during a variety of dental treatments, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and managing patient comfort throughout procedures. Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions clearly and compassionately. Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization methods to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Requirements Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology and medical documentation standards. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and records management is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and dental assisting procedures including four-handed dentistry. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines safely and effectively. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience supporting pediatric patients is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with the dental teamâincluding dental receptionistsâand effectively educate patients about their care. Certification in radiography or X-ray safety preferred; additional certifications in medical terminology or medical coding are advantageous.
