Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional chairside assistance, perform advanced dental procedures, and ensure a smooth and efficient workflow within our clinic. This role requires a thorough understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and the use of digital imaging technology. The successful applicant will contribute to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, supporting general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry services. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Perform chairside assisting with proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop X-rays and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Manage electronic health records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental records. Collect vital signs and medical history information; monitor patient comfort throughout procedures. Maintain strict infection control standards using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials; assist with medical documentation and coding as needed. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health practices tailored for pediatric patients when applicable. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow in collaboration with the dental reception team. Qualifications Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant with relevant licensure or certification. Proven experience in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and documentation standards. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Experience operating digital imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Excellent chairside assisting skills with the ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages; experience working with pediatric patients is a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental care; background in medical documentation is advantageous.
