Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Dental Sterilization Assistant to join our dental team. This vital role supports the clinical operations by ensuring the sterilization and proper handling of dental instruments and materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of infection control protocols, dental terminology, and clinic procedures, contributing to a safe and efficient patient care environment. Prior experience in dental assisting or clinic support is preferred, along with familiarity with electronic health records systems. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced dental setting, supporting various specialties including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and more. Responsibilities Properly sterilize and prepare dental instruments using aseptic techniques in compliance with infection control standards. Manage and organize sterilized instruments for daily clinical use, ensuring availability for procedures. Assist with maintaining medical documentation and records within EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Support chairside assisting tasks including taking vital signs, X-ray imaging, and providing assistance during procedures like four-handed dentistry. Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations when handling patient information and medical records. Assist with patient check-in/out processes as needed, including updating medical history and documentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area following OSHA guidelines. Support the clinical team with understanding dental terminology and anatomy knowledge relevant to procedures. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures in a dental setting. Experience with pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus. Understanding of dental assisting duties including chairside assisting, X-ray procedures, vital signs measurement, and medical imaging techniques. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and documentation standards related to dentistry is advantageous.
