Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records regularly, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology. Experience working with pediatric dentistry is a plus; comfort working with children in pediatric dentistry environments is highly valued. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks efficiently while maintaining a friendly demeanor. Knowledge of medical records management, documentation review, and basic medical coding practices.
