Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and assisting during restorative treatments. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance long-term dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure patient safety. Support pediatric dentistry procedures with specialized knowledge of pediatrics and dental terminology to create a positive experience for young patients. Collaborate with the dental team on documentation review, medical coding, and patient care coordination for seamless clinic operations. Experience Previous experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting is highly preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential for efficient documentation and record management. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures is required. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children is a strong advantage. Strong understanding of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical records management ensures comprehensive patient assessment. Experience with chairside assisting during general dentistry procedures enhances team collaboration. Certification in dental assisting or related fields is beneficial but not mandatory; ongoing education in dental terminology and infection control is encouraged.
