Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Assess patient oral health by examining gums, teeth, and soft tissues, noting any abnormalities or concerns. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring proper infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse to ensure patient safety during procedures. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Maintain accurate medical records, document patient assessments, and review documentation for completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control . Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred but not required; a passion for working with children is a plus! Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes. Ability to work efficiently in general dentistry environments while maintaining high standards of infection control and aseptic technique.
