Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments, using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments, dental materials, and equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, verifying medical history, updating medical records using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, and documenting procedures accurately within Epic or similar platforms. Measure vital signs and assess patient comfort before procedures to ensure safety and well-being throughout treatment. Maintain detailed medical documentation, including medical coding and records management aligned with HIPAA standards. Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating referrals for specialized care like endodontics or prosthodontics. Qualifications Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with current licensure. Proven experience working in a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting with familiarity in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical documentation and coding is highly desirable. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Strong understanding of dental assisting procedures such as chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and managing medical imaging. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; experience working as a dental receptionist is a plus.
