Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Great Lakes Ambulatory Anesthesia

Job Overview The Dental Anesthesia Assistant supports the anesthesiologist in all phases of patient care, including preoperative evaluation, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative recovery. This individual plays a critical role in patient safety, documentation accuracy, and smooth case flow. This role is ideal for a dental assistant with sedation experience, medical assistant with OR experience, EMT, paramedic, or perioperative assistant with strong clinical judgment and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Preoperative Responsibilities Assist with patient check-in and identification verification Confirm NPO status and document last oral intake Review and verify medical history, allergies, medications, and surgical history Ensure informed consent and required documentation are complete Prepare monitoring equipment and anesthesia setup prior to induction Intraoperative Responsibilities Assist during induction of anesthesia Support airway management preparation (equipment readiness, suction, oxygen delivery systems) Anticipate anesthesiologist needs during procedures Monitor and document intraoperative events as directed Keep a clean workspace Postoperative / Recovery Responsibilities Assist with patient transport to recovery area Monitor and document recovery vital signs Assess airway patency and level of consciousness Provide postoperative instructions reinforcement to caregivers Ensure discharge criteria are met prior to patient release Assist with safe patient transfer to vehicle when appropriate Additional Duties Ensure emergency equipment readiness (oxygen, suction, airway supplies) Assist with compliance documentation and quality assurance processes Support efficient turnover between cases Required Qualifications Current BLS certification (required) ACLS and/or PALS certification (required) Prior clinical experience in dental, medical, surgical, or emergency setting Strong understanding of medical terminology Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to remain calm in high-acuity situations Preferred Experience Experience in pediatric, sedation, anesthesia, oral surgery, or PACU or OR settings EMT, Paramedic, Dental Assistant, or Medical Assistant background Familiarity with anesthesia monitoring equipment Physical Requirements Ability to assist with patient positioning and transport Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift or support patients when needed Ability to lift 50 pounds Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience Travel reimbursement (if applicable) No benefits included Job Type: Part-time Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour Work Location: In person
