Position Overview The Surgical Dental Assistant plays a critical role in supporting periodontal and implant procedures while ensuring patients feel comfortable, informed, and well cared for before, during, and after treatment. This role requires a highly proactive professional who anticipates needs, thinks ahead, and takes initiative to support the doctor, team, and overall flow of the practice. The ability to stay composed, adaptable, and solutions-focused in a surgical environment is essential. Key Responsibilities Assist with surgical procedures including dental implants, extractions, and bone grafting Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and operatory setups Follow strict sterilization and infection control protocols Take comprehensive medical and dental histories Anticipate doctor and patient needs during procedures Provide clear post-operative instructions and patient education Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment What Weâre Looking For Clinical Experience & Skills Previous surgical assisting experience required (implants, extractions, bone grafting) Strong knowledge of periodontal and implant procedures Proficient in comprehensive medical and dental history collection Experienced in patient communication and behavioral management Operate dental imaging equipment including 3D CBCT and X-ray machines to capture accurate diagnostic images, ensuring proper positioning and exposure. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proactive (Essential): Anticipates needs, streamlines workflows, and takes initiative to support the team and achieve shared goals.
