In this vital role, you will assist dentists with a variety of procedures, perform chairside assisting, and execute expanded functions that require certification. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and other duties authorized by state regulations. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques and infection control standards are maintained. Take and develop X-ray images, including digital radiography and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy. Manage patient flow efficiently by updating medical records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; accurately document medical and dental histories. Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Support front desk operations as needed by handling dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, and managing patient communications. Maintain strict infection control protocols and ensure all equipment is sterilized according to OSHA standards. Collaborate seamlessly in four-handed dentistry setups for optimal patient comfort and procedural efficiency. Experience Proven experience working in a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting with a focus on chairside assisting. Certified in expanded functions with demonstrated proficiency in performing advanced dental procedures under supervision. Familiarity with EMR systems Dentrix for managing electronic health records efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Experience conducting X-ray procedures including digital radiography and 3D scanning technology preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical documentation standards relevant to dental assisting roles. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of patient care.
