Duties Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup effectively. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure comprehensive care. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety standards. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Maintain accurate documentation of patient visits, treatment plans, and medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols aligned with HIPAA regulations and dental terminology standards to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, infection control procedures, and medical coding practices. Experience with pediatric dentistry, including working with children in a compassionate and engaging manner. Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments efficiently during procedures. Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and recognize signs requiring medical assessment or intervention. Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and understanding of anatomy relevant to dental radiography. Excellent patient care skills with a focus on communication, empathy, and professionalism in both general dentistry and pediatrics environments.
