Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental radiographs using medical imaging equipment. Provide oral health education tailored to each patientâs needs, emphasizing preventive care and proper hygiene techniques. Assist the dentist during procedures through four-handed dentistry techniques, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Review and document medical records accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Monitor and record vital signs and medical information to support overall patient assessment and treatment planning. Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and proper handling of dental instruments. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and data entry. Support pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized knowledge of pediatrics and dental terminology relevant to young patients. Ensure compliance with all safety standards related to medical coding, documentation review, and infection prevention practices. Qualifications Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry or dental clinic settings, with familiarity in dental assisting duties preferred. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups, including pediatrics. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures. Knowledge of EMR systems, documentation review processes, and medical coding standards.
