Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient experience. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment details, review documentation for accuracy, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing medical records securely, and adhering to all safety standards. Skills Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures. Experience with pediatric dentistry and providing compassionate care to children in pediatrics settings. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on patient care, including taking vital signs and monitoring patient comfort throughout procedures. Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes to ensure a safe clinical environment. Ability to interpret medical coding for billing purposes and manage medical records efficiently.
