Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options. Assist with chairside procedures such as applying sealants or fluoride treatments under dentist supervision. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental office protocols. Use dental imaging equipment to capture necessary radiographs for diagnosis and treatment planning. Ensure infection control standards are upheld through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Skills Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures. Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatric patient care is highly desirable. Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during patient care. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and interpret medical imaging results. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and HIPAA compliance. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient needs.
