Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating oral health status. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote long-term dental health. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Manage medical imaging procedures such as X-rays while adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques. Document patient information accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, including medical records, treatment notes, and documentation review. Maintain infection control standards by following HIPAA regulations, sterilization protocols, and proper handling of dental instruments and supplies. Monitor patient vital signs and assess overall health status to identify any concerns requiring further medical attention or referral. Support dental office operations by managing appointment scheduling, patient records, and ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or general dentistry setting. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and documentation review processes. Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and pediatric patient care is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy knowledge related to oral structures. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties when necessary, demonstrating excellent patient care skills. Prior experience with medical coding related to dental procedures is advantageous but not mandatory.
