Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Assess patient oral health status through visual examination and medical history review. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using medical imaging equipment while ensuring proper infection control protocols. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to support comprehensive patient assessment. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, utilizing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment. Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with a strong understanding of dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Proficiency in dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, along with familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety. Ability to perform pediatric dentistry procedures when necessary, including working with children in a compassionate manner. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively about treatment plans and medical coding requirements. Strong organizational skills for documentation review, medical coding, and maintaining accurate medical records.
