Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pediatric dentistry and dental assisting, with a passion for providing exceptional care to young patients. In this role, you will support dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain the highest standards of infection control and safety. Your expertise in dental terminology, medical documentation, and clinic management will be vital to delivering a positive experience for both children and their families. Responsibilities Assist pediatric dentists during various dental procedures, including examinations, restorations, and orthodontic treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed consistently. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Monitor vital signs of young patients before procedures to ensure their safety and comfort. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Dentrix, including medical history updates and dental notes. Educate children and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear dental terminology. Manage appointment scheduling as a dental receptionist when needed, ensuring smooth patient flow within the clinic. Uphold infection control standards through proper sterilization of instruments and adherence to aseptic techniques in all clinical activities. Support the use of advanced technology such as 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics in pediatric cases. Collaborate with team members to ensure a welcoming environment that promotes positive dental experiences for children. Experience Prior experience working in a pediatric dentistry setting or general dentistry with pediatric patients is highly preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is essential. Demonstrated ability in chairside assisting with expertise in dental terminology, medical terminology, and infection control protocols. Familiarity with X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and the operation of digital radiography equipment. Experience performing vital signs assessment and supporting medical documentation processes within a clinical environment. Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles, including anatomy knowledge relevant to childrenâs oral health needs. Certification in basic life support (BLS) or CPR is advantageous but not mandatory; ongoing training will be provided.
