Duties Assist dentists chairside during procedures such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained throughout all procedures. Take high-quality dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage medical records and documentation accurately within Open Dental, including medical coding and updating patient histories. Support patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures in clear dental terminology. Maintain infection control standards by following strict protocols for sterilization, handling of contaminated materials, and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and understanding dental terminology. Knowledge of EMR systems such as Open Dental for managing patient records efficiently. Experience with infection control practices and aseptic technique to ensure patient safety. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is a strong plus. Ability to interpret medical terminology and assist with medical documentation accurately. Understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with basic knowledge of endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties enhances your effectiveness as an assistant.
