Duties Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Assist dentist during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are ready for use. Take digital dental radiographs (X-ray) accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards. Manage patient records using Softdent dental software ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with HIPAA. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Monitor vital signs and assist with documentation when necessary for patients with special needs or medical conditions. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental coding to accurately document procedures and communicate effectively within the team. Qualifications Valid certification as a Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration as required by state law. Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental office environment, including pediatric dentistry. Proficiency with Softdent, familiarity with dental records management is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding standards. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following radiation safety guidelines. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and team members across specialties like endodontics or prosthodontics. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and patient comfort.
