Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review and updates in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow HIPAA regulations diligently to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with all legal standards. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with exposure to general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing processes. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient record management. Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental assisting practices. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement and patient assessment with professionalism and compassion.
