We are currently looking for a Full Time Dental Specialty Assistant to join our Dental Specialty Operations Group team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr. Summary: Provides clinical, clerical, and technical support within the Chickasaw Nation Dental Clinic. Responsibilities: Assists dentists and specialists during procedures, including anesthesia monitoring, surgical support, and post-operative care Performs oral prophylaxis, applies fluoride treatments, places sealants, and assists with dental imaging and impressions Takes intra- and extra-oral radiographs using dental x-ray equipment Monitors nitrous oxide sedation and assists with sedation recovery Administers topical anesthetics, removes sutures, manages periodontal dressings, and performs glucose checks Educates patients on preventive care, oral hygiene, and post-treatment instructions for all ages Reiterates treatment plans, explains complex procedures, and motivates patients towards proper home care Presents oral health education to community groups under the dentistâs direction Inputs and document patient data, including superbill coding and scribing progress notes in the Electronic Medical Record Schedules patient appointments, follow-ups, surgeries, and prescriptions, ensuring all paperwork is completed Manages phone board operations and assist with patient communication when needed Maintains infection control standards, sterilizes instruments, and keeps clinic areas clean and functional Monitors and manages clinic supply inventory, restocking as needed Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner Greets and engages with a smile Determines needs, seeks positive experience and outcomes Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment Maintains and promotes professionalism Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc. Performs all other duties as assigned Competencies: Essential: Able to follow instructions, both written and oral Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements Honesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountability Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines Working knowledge of dental terminology Ability to proofread for spelling, grammar, and formatting errors and make appropriate modifications Knowledge of relevant privacy regulations such as The Privacy Act, Freedom of Information Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management Skills: Essential: Intermediate computer skills Experience: Essential: 2 years directly related experience Education: Essential: High School, GED or Equivalent Nonessential: Technical School Nonessential: Completion of a dental assisting course and/or a minimum of 2 years of chairside assisting in general or specialty dental offices Credentials: Essential: Pass general background check Basic Life Support (BLS) Radiation Safety Permit Coronal Polishing Topical Fluoride Permit Pit and Fissure Sealant Certification Nitrous Oxide Permit Nonessential: Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification (DAANCE) Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certification Essential: Must obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire Working Conditions: Essential: Works in a hospital or clinic environment Fast-paced environment Sitting up to 25% of shift Standing up to 50% of shift Walking up to 25% of shift Sometimes lift and or carry up to 50 lbs Frequently bend, kneel, stoop, push, reach May be required to assist individuals who are hostile, agitated or under the influence Subject to traveling and working at other locations or in other environments Potential exposure to contagious diseases Pass pre-employment drug test Training It is the responsibility of each employee to attend required training for their position or profession as determined by their line of support (LOS) or the leadership of the Chickasaw Nation.
