Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health. Conduct thorough patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental examinations to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Prepare and review medical records, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment provided while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Use dental terminology accurately when documenting procedures and communicating with patients and team members. Operate dental equipment such as medical imaging devices, intraoral cameras, and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination in accordance with OSHA standards. Monitor patientsâ medical status during visits by checking vital signs and recognizing any signs of medical emergencies or contraindications. Support the dental team by chairside assisting during various procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office setting with a strong understanding of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding purposes. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable for working with pediatric patients effectively. Demonstrated ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside support, infection control, and patient care coordination. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and infection prevention techniques. Experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus, along with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
