Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to all safety protocols and infection control standards. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office protocols. Support infection control procedures by practicing aseptic techniques and ensuring sterilization of instruments and equipment. Skills Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience in pediatric dentistry, including working with children in a compassionate and engaging manner. Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments efficiently during procedures. Ability to perform patient care tasks such as vital signs measurement and patient assessment with professionalism. Knowledge of infection control practices, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment. Familiarity with general dentistry procedures, medical imaging techniques, and documentation requirements for medical records.
