Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe and effective treatment. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Capture and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Maintain accurate dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and uphold safety standards. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical coding as needed, and assist with administrative tasks related to patient care. Experience Previous experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is required, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology is essential for effective patient assessment and documentation review. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Experience in pediatric dentistry or pediatrics is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children and their specific needs. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures is necessary to maintain a safe clinical environment. Excellent patient care skills combined with the ability to communicate clearly about treatment plans and oral health education. Ability to work efficiently in a family-friendly environment while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and medical coding.
