Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination within the dental clinic environment. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation. Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific procedures is highly desirable. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on patient care, comfort, and safety during various dental procedures. Ability to perform vital signs measurement and monitor patient health throughout treatment sessions. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental setting. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members for comprehensive care.
