Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained at all times. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans, ensuring accuracy and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures when necessary, especially in pediatric or medically complex cases. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to OSHA guidelines and proper sterilization protocols. Support front desk operations as needed by assisting the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling and patient communication. Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, and post-treatment care to foster understanding and compliance. Assist in medical coding and documentation for insurance claims or medical records when applicable. Qualifications Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Dental Assistant (DA) with state licensing where required. Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry specialties. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with medical terminology and medical documentation practices. Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, anatomy, dental terminology, and dental assisting best practices. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following HIPAA standards for patient privacy and safety. Strong understanding of dental procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and chairside assisting techniques like four-handed dentistry. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; ability to explain procedures clearly. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
