Responsibilities Support dentists and dental hygienists during patient examinations and procedures using chairside assisting techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all equipment adheres to aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Assist with taking and developing X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scanning procedures, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records by updating medical histories, documenting treatments accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Aid in patient intake processes by collecting vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures using appropriate dental and medical terminology. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation for accurate record-keeping. Participate in four-handed dentistry practices to improve efficiency during procedures while maintaining high standards of infection control and anatomy knowledge. Assist with pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized techniques suited for childrenâs needs and understanding pediatric-specific medical considerations. Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized clinic environment that adheres to infection control protocols and safety standards. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates. Familiarity with dental assisting practices, including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and understanding dental terminology. Knowledge of EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable; experience with Epic or other medical records software is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dentistry. Experience with pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is advantageous. Basic knowledge of medical coding, medical documentation standards, and HIPAA compliance is beneficial for success in this role. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using both dental and medical terminology while maintaining professionalism in a clinical setting.
