Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications to ensure safe treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice for optimal dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments preferred. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is a plus. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members.
