Duties Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards. Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate medical and dental documentation. Monitor vital signs and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient assessments. Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and guiding patients through their visit process. Support four-handed dentistry practices by efficiently passing instruments and maintaining a smooth workflow during procedures. Educate patients on dental terminology, treatment plans, and post-care instructions to promote understanding and compliance. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA standards. Assist with medical coding for billing purposes and ensure all medical records are accurately updated in compliance with HIPAA. Qualifications Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with experience in general dentistry; additional experience in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics is a plus. Proficiency in dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing electronic health records (EHR). Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience with X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, medical imaging, and vital signs monitoring. Familiarity with EMR systems, HIPAA compliance, medical documentation, and coding processes related to dental care. Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages including pediatrics; compassionate approach preferred.
