Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to foster long-term dental health. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and providing localized anesthesia under supervision. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and documentation standards. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing instruments, and managing clinical supplies efficiently. Collaborate seamlessly with dentists and dental assistants using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow and patient comfort. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments is highly desirable; pediatric dentistry experience is a plus! Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices if working with children or adolescents. Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging procedures, and maintain strict infection control standards.
