Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Operate medical imaging equipment such as X-rays with proper aseptic technique and adhere to infection control protocols. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review documentation and medical coding details for billing accuracy and proper recordkeeping. Experience Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and medical terminology is essential for success in this role. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix enhances workflow efficiency. Experience in pediatric dentistry or pediatrics is a plus but not required; a passion for working with children is valued. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards.
