Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary dental tools and materials while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records by accurately updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical coding for billing purposes, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in and check-out processes. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure a positive experience. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and ensuring all dental equipment is properly maintained. Qualifications THE BELOW QUALIFICATIONS ARE PREFERRED BUT NOT NECESSARY. THIS CAN ALL BE TRAINED. Proven experience in dental assisting is preferred but not required. Be able to work in a busy dental clinic environment, including familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix. This can also be trained. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures. Proficiency in operating dental X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Ability to effectively communicate with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatric dentistry settings. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or similar platforms is highly desirable.
